Description

IL-6Rα (IL-6RA), also known as CD126 or IL-6R, is a type I cytokine receptor. The IL-6 receptor is a protein complex consisting of an interleukin-6 receptor subunit (IL-6R) and interleukin-6 signal transducer Glycoprotein 130. IL-6R denotes the human gene encoding this subunit. Alternatively, spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported. IL-6R subunit is also shared by many other cytokines. Interleukin-6 receptor has been shown to interact with Interleukin 6 and ciliary neurotrophic factor. Ligand binding did not appear to affect IL-6R dimerization status. IL-6R dimerization occurs both on the cell surface and in solution. ScienCell's human IL-6Rα ELISA kit is based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. Human IL-6Rα-specific polyclonal antibodies are pre-coated onto 8 x 12 divisible strips. The human-specific detection monoclonal antibodies are biotinylated. The test samples and biotinylated detection antibodies are subsequently added to the wells and then washed with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB is used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB is catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changes to yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The intensity of yellow is proportional to the amount of human IL-6Rα in the sample that is captured on the strips
